Today is a very special day for me! I finally get to share my piCture pOlish collaboration shade. I’ve been itching to share this news for months and today is finally the day. It feels like it was only yesterday when I got the e-mail from Jules asking if I wanted to create a collaboration shade. I had to read it twice and pinch myself a few times before it sank in. One of my dreams actually came true!
Of course after the news sank in, I had to come up with a shade brief, the hardest part! Jules kindly gave me a few weeks to pitch her a shade and slowly but surely I put the pieces together. My main inspiration was a polaroid I shot a few years ago in our backyard. I woke up at the crack of dawn one morning and I was completely in awe of the mist hovering over the ground. Everything was covered in iridescent dewdrops and there was a very strange atmosphere in the air. I had to capture this moment!
Next I had to come up with a name for my shade. I chose one of my favourite words in English which is “Eerie”. It fit the strange and mysterious atmosphere of my inspiration photo quite well so I found my name! Next was the tagline. I was watching the episode “Alter Ego” of Star Trek Voyager during the time I was coming up with my shade brief when Captain Janeway uttered a phrase that stuck with me. While staring at a mysterious inversion nebula she spoke and said “Beauty and mystery, a tantalizing combination”. We eventually had to shorten this to “Beauty & mystery, tantalizing combo!” to fit onto the bottle. I’m so excited that I got to include my obsession with sci-fi into my shade. 😀
I sent Jules the pantone colour that represented my shade best but I couldn’t find one that fit it perfectly. I wanted a mysterious colour, something that was neither blue nor purple. With subtle hidden shimmer representing the dewdrops I saw covering the plants that morning. I tried my best to describe what I envisioned, which was hard as I basically requested a colour that was very difficult to describe. Neither this nor that, something truly unique. I waited patiently and after a few months I finally received a sample of my shade. My hands were shaking when I unwrapped it, the second I lay my hands on it I knew, this is it! I don’t know how the piCture pOlish people did it but they took my vision and created exactly what I saw in my head. And better! It is everything I wanted and more.
They added the stunning bijou holo shimmer into my shade which gives a super subtle holographic rainbow in the sunlight. It’s really gorgeous but quite tricky to capture in photos! My shade also has subtle silver, blue, green and pink irregular sized shimmer which adds to the depth of the shade. I really love how it’s so subtle, it’s exactly what I wanted! I’m one of those people that prefers creme polishes over shimmers and glitters so it definitely represents my taste very well.
I really hope you love my shade as much as I do! I put a lot of myself into it and I definitely think it shows. I’d go as far as saying that if I could only ever wear one polish for the rest of my life, this would be it. It’s super flattering and translates into all seasons. I also love that it’s a very soft pastel colour but turns quite vibrant if you step outside in the sun. Depending on which light setting you are in, it looks lavender, or pale blue, or greyish. It always looks interesting!

Eerie has the amazing 5-free piCture pOlish formula and the coverage is incredible. I usually need three coats to cover my nail line but Eerie is opaque in just two coats. I’m so happy with that! The formulation is flawless! It has the best formula of all the PP shades I’ve tried. But obviously I’m biased since it’s my colour haha! 😀
My shade piCture pOlish Eerie will become available for purchase on Monday 26th of May from the piCture pOlish website. It will be available from the network members (international stockists) hopefully soon! Will keep you posted.
I really really hope you like it! Please let me know your thoughts in the comments below.
