I’m back with more nail art today! I promised many more stamping manicures with my MoYou plates and I finally have some stamping to show you today. I’ll also be sharing my top tips to get successful results. I started with stamping 4 years ago but failed and gave up. I recently started again and achieved great results very quickly, but changed a few things since my first attempts all those years ago. Let’s take a look!
I’m sure some of you will recognize this design, the pastel pink and black swallows is a famous Miu Miu print. It’s been on my to-do list for ages and when I spotted some pretty swallows on my MoYou Mother Nature 03 plate, I knew I had to recreate it! I started with Essie French Affair as a base, an untried. Then I stamped over it with Cirque Colors Memento Mori, added Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat.
There are a few things I changed since I reattempted stamping and they made a huge different for the end result. I tried to list them for you! Keep in mind that everyone has a different experience and technique, what works for me may not work for you.
- First thing I changed was my stamper. A soft and squishy stamper works so much better. Make sure to prime it first by using a very soft grit buffer to take away the shine. This step is pretty important!
- Use an old visa/bankcard or gift card as a scraper. Metal scrapers can damage your stamping plate and the plastic ones don’t work as well in my experience.
- Regular polishes instead of stamping polishes can give better results. I feel like regular polishes don’t smear as easily and just generally work better. Use opaque polishes or metallics, they work amazingly.
- Use a top coat that doesn’t smear and use a very light touch when you apply the top coat. Almost float over your nail and make sure to don’t go over the same place twice. Glisten & Glow HK Girl is my holy grail for nail art.
Really hope you like these as much as I do!
