I’m sharing a new-to-the-blog brand today that launched very recently on Hypnotic Polish! Water decals from MILV. They’re Russian water decals that have hit the nail community there with a storm. It’s easy to see why as they come in the most gorgeous designs and are superb quality. Let’s take a look!
Maria kindly sent me a selection of MILV water decals to try. I loved her choices! They come in simple plastic packaging with a paper wrapper on top that has the Hypnotic Polish and MILV logo. Such a nice touch. Some designs are suitable for a white-base only which is stated at the bottom of the decal.
The one I wanted to try out first was the MILV 246 decal which has a horizontal striped design with butterflies. I just immediately fell in love with the colours of this design! Application was a breeze but I’m quite used to working with water decals. Here’s how I go about applying them:
I started by applying Il Etait Un Vernis Hydrangea on my pointer and pinkie and Cirque Colors Carpe Diem on my middle and ring finger. Once my base was fully dry I then cut out a portion of the water decal and placed it in water. After a few seconds the paper backing loosens up so you can apply it to your nail. I usually dip my finger in water before applying the decal which allows me to move the position of the decal until it’s in the correct place. Once it’s in place I gently push out all the creases with a cotton ball, then cut off the excess around the free edge and cuticle area. I then apply top coat, in this case I applied Glisten & Glow HK Girl top coat. Then you simply use a brush dipped in acetone to remove the excess.
In the magnified macro close-up you can see the pixels of the design but in person I couldn’t see any pixels at all. The design appears smooth, solid and sharp. I was really impressed with them and I cannot wait to try the other designs!
You can purchase MILV water decals via Hypnotic Polish. They’re priced at €1.50 a piece. You can also find Il Etait Un Vernis and Glisten & Glow at Hypnotic Polish.
