Today I’m sharing a swatch of Indigo Bananas Anansi. Indigo Bananas is a new-to-me indie brand from LA. Many thanks to Mei Mei’s Signatures for introducing me to this brand. If you’re wondering where the name comes from, I found a fun quote on the website explaining it:
“The name Indigo Bananas can be interpreted in multiple ways: ripe bananas glow indigo under UV light, so they are the most royal of all the fruits. The name sounds like ‘indie go bananas’ – so feel free to go bananas for indie nail polish […]”
The shade I received to swatch is called Anansi and is part of the Nothing Cannot Last 4-piece collection. The name is inspired by American Gods, a novel by Neil Gaiman. The shade is a gorgeous emerald green duochrome glass fleck that shifts to a gorgeous warm purple. You can layer it over black for a more vampy effect but I used three thin coats on its own, no black base.
The formula of Anansi was really great. It applied very smoothly and the colour shift is truly incredible! I love these two colours together, they look so wonderful. I love that you have the option of wearing it on its own or layered over a darker shade.
Andrea, the creator behind Indigo Bananas is a trained biologist and spent a long time researching the science behind nail polish, suspension bases, glitters, micas, etc. You can definitely tell there was a lot of time, love and thought put into these. Definitely a brand to watch!
You can find Indigo Bananas at Mei Mei’s Signatures or on the Indigo Bananas Etsy shop. The bottle I reviewed is a mini which holds 8ml (a generous size!), full sizes are 15ml. Polishes are Big-3 free and vegan friendly. Indigo Bananas also has a stunning range of holos, make sure to check out their other shades.
