Hi! Thank you for stopping by my blog. My name is Emily Van Cauter and I am currently 24 years old. If you’d like to learn a little more about me, make sure to keep reading. I’ve also answered a few questions people often ask me, you can find them in my FAQ page.
I grew up in a very creative family in Belgium, which is a small country next to France and The Netherlands. From a young age onwards, drawing, photography, and art were a part of my life. I was constantly in search of beauty and found that photography was my ideal way of capturing things I deemed beautiful and creating a certain atmosphere. Portraits were my favourite to capture, especially fashion and beauty shots were a big inspiration to me. This spiked my interest in make-up and cosmetics.
As a young teen I found myself watching YouTube videos to learn how to create make-up looks. One day I stumbled on a nail art tutorial and discovered that the world of nail art doesn’t end with a French manicure. It really opened up my eyes and I was instantly hooked! I started this blog, Very Emily, in January 2010 and I’ve enjoyed every second of it since.
That tells you how I got into blogging but I have other interests and hobbies too. Possibly too many to list! I’m a keen crafter and DIY-er and I enjoy knitting, crocheting, cooking, growing plants (succulents and cacti are my favourite), watching TV series.
On December 3rd 2014 I lost my dear father to cancer after a two year battle. During this difficult time I found that blogging was a great escape for me, it almost kept me sane. I’m really grateful to the people I have met through the blogging and the nail art community, they’ve shown me and my family so much support. I can’t thank them enough!
Me and my fiancé Dries, going strong since 01/02/2009. I owe special thanks to him, for sticking by me through good times and hard times. And for helping me design my blog lay-out! Credit where credit is due. ;)
I hope you enjoy taking a look at my blog! If you have any questions or want to chat, feel free to contact me or send me a message.
