Teal & Gold Nail Art

31st May, 2012

As promised, finally some nail art! I know I’ve been slacking with my nail art lately. Today I did a quick and simple leopard print and teal accent nails with studs. I used:

  • A England – Galahad
  • Illamasqua – Swinger
  • It’s So Easy Stripe Rite in black
  • Born Pretty Store studs
  • Essence Sealing Top Coat

That’s two of my favourite polishes combined! A England Galahad is seriously gorgeous. It’s slightly more teal in person and less turquoise though. And as for Illamasqua Swinger, I’ve told you guys before, it’s simply the best gold polish ever!

A England – Crown Your Hands And Feet

23rd March, 2012

Today I have a review for you of several polishes from the brand A England. The lovely Adina who owns the brand kindly allowed me to choose five colours from either one of the ranges The Mythicals and The Legend. I had a hard time choosing since all the polishes are very unique. I hope with my choices I’ve accurately represented what the brand has to offer. Let’s take a look at the bottles!

From left to right: Avalon – Guinevere – Merlin – Galahad – Saint George.

I simply love the crown and logo of the brand! The bottles look absolutely stunning.

The names of the polishes from The Mythicals range are all related to the story of King Arthur. I’ve always been fascinated by these stories as a child so these names really appeal to me.

Now let’s take a look at the swatches!

The idyllic isle, healing place of eternal beauty and otherworldly mystery and the final resting place of Arthur.

Avalon – In my humble opinion this is the most beautiful polish from A England! It’s simply stunning in person, I hope my swatch translates its beauty. It’s a royal purple with a slight duochrome effect which goes from purple to pink. It also has blue and pink shimmer which shows especially well in the sunshine. This was two coats.

The most beautiful and desirable lady in Britan. Spouse of King Arthur and involved in a passionate affair with young Lancelot which is one of the most celebrated legendary love triangles.

Guinevere – This is a really pretty dusty lavender shade. I needed two thin coats to get complete coverage. I love the BBC show Merlin and I am not sure if it is intentional, but the character who portrays Guinevere in the show often wears a dress in this particular shade. That’s why it immediately made me think of Guinevere, I thought it was a very fitting name to the polish.

Arthur’s tutor, adviser, prophet, wizard; able to assume variety of forms creating life like illusions.

Merlin – This is a silver irregular sized glitter. It’s a very dense glitter, I only used about two coats to get this coverage, though there is still a little visible nail line. I have a hard time finding the connection between the shade and the name for this polish since it reminds me so much of mail armour. It is very beautiful though! I don’t own anything like this nor have I seen a glitter like this in other brands.

(Son of Lancelot) the achiever of the holy grail. Renowed for his gallantry and purity is considered the most perfect knight in the world.

Galahad – I think this is my favourite out of the five, just because I have a weak spot for blue shades like this. I actually have nothing like it in my collection even though I own many blue polishes. There’s just really something unique to this polish! It’s not quite bright and not completely muted either. Sort of in between. I really love it! I used two coats and it gave me perfect coverage.

The knightly saint who perchanced upon this lamentable scene, freed the princess, slew the mighty dragon and restored peace throughout the kingdom, thereby winning the hand of Princess Sabra in holy matrimony.

Saint George – Last but by no means least, this gorgeous holo teal green! This is from The Legend range. As a nail blogger I’m ashamed to admit this is my first holo polish, but what a beauty it is! I completely fell in love with Saint George. I used two coats but you could honestly get away with just one.

Overall I am very impressed with the A England shades. I love the idea and story behind the collections, the bottles and logo are also very beautiful. The formula is so great to work with, these polishes all applied like a dream! But the best part about A England is the woman behind it, Adina is such a creative and inspiring woman. With A England she created a wonderful brand with a vision and story. I am truly grateful she allowed me the opportunity to be able to show you my swatches and for her kind words towards my blog and myself. Thank you Adina!

A England polishes are sold for £9 a piece through their website. Shipping is free! Definitely take a look at their other polishes, there isn’t one shade I dislike, they are all stunning!

I was kindly sent these products by A England to review. I am not in any way affiliated with this company nor am I being paid by them! All opinions stated are honest and my own, as always.
