My Days in Instagram Pictures

14th February, 2013

I’ve barely found the time to blog this week, I’ve just been so busy! However, I do have some pretty exciting posts to share on here soon, so make sure to watch this space. :D In the meantime, here’s a recap of a few things I shared on Instagram the past few weeks. There’s also a question for YOU at the bottom of this post. So make sure to leave me your feedback, I’d love to hear your suggestions!

Follow me on Instagram: veryemily.

Left: When I saw this heart at Action for under $2 I simply had to buy it. It was being sold as a display for greeting cards, but in my head I immediately saw my necklaces dangling from the beautiful little hearts. I’m so glad I picked this up! It’s definitely one of my new favourite items in my room. Score!

Right: It’s been a few years since I bought a new duvet cover and I figured it was time for a change. I’ve wanted a Union Jack duvet cover for a while and when I was googling I found that 3SUISSES had the perfect one. I picked this up during their sale, it came in at around $50 including the four pillow covers. I love how it has a different design on the inside!

On 28 January, I had the most epic nail mail day ever! One of my bestest friends Alex (aka Algae Veronica! Please check out her blog, she’s an amazing nail artist) absolutely spoiled me with the most amazing package filled with goodies. I wish I knew what I did to deserve such kindness! :D My new piCture pOlish shades for my  weekly swatchathon also arrived that day. I was, and still am, overwhelmed with all the beautiful polishes I was blessed with that day!

On 1 February my boyfriend and I celebrated our four year anniversary. I’m so blessed to have such an amazing, supportive and awesome boyfriend. I wouldn’t know what to do without him!

MUA Cosmetics was having a sale on their website not too long ago. All of their products were 50% off, and they were having a free international shipping deal. Given their products are so cheap already, this definitely was too good to pass up! So these are the goodies I picked up during the sale. Would anyone like to see reviews on some of these items? Let me know in the comments!

Left: Last weekend I had a haul at Action and Kruidvat. Action is quickly becoming one of my favourite stores, it’s basically like a Poundland or a Dollar Store. Everything is so cheap and the items they sell are awesome! They have a lot of great make-up products and cosmetics too. As you can tell from the duplicates, these goodies are not all for me! I also picked up some items for a few dear friends of mine.

Right: This is the Essence Popul-Art blush from the Vintage District limited edition. It’s so beautiful! I almost don’t want to use it. The gold is an overspray so I haven’t touched it yet. The effect is too pretty to ruin!

Meet my first ever decoden iPhone case! I got it at Born Pretty Store, it comes in a set with a clear iPhone case, large decoden pieces, rhinestones and pearls, glue and a nifty pencil for picking up rhinestones. I also used some other rhinestones I had lying around. I definitely went a bit overboard with the bling. :D I love it so much though! Especially the little nail polish charm. It’s just the cutest!

Left: Behold my very own OPI Euro Centrale display! When I saw the first previews of Euro Centrale I knew I had to have the full collection. I’ve never bought a full collection before but I simply had to have it, the shades were SO me! My friend Alex was able to hook me up with this, so a huge thanks to her.

Right: A little sneaky peek of my three favourite shades from the Euro Centrale collection. But more on that in my swatch post which should be going up this week or early next week! :D

And finally, here’s the new Born Pretty Store glitter polishes! I will be swatching these on my blog very soon! But this is where you come in…  As they are mostly layering glitters I’ve been debating which colours I should layer them over. As there’s so many, I will only be able to show one layering combination. Either I can use the same colour for all glitters (white or black?) or I can pick a shade that I think works best with each shade. Please let me know what you’d prefer and what you would like to see me do with these!

Hope you enjoyed this post! Thanks for watching and reading!

piCture pOlish Denim Swatches

10th February, 2013

I was meant to share my weekly piCture pOlish swatchathon post with you yesterday but somehow I only got around to it today! :) I hope it was worth the wait. It’s a really beautiful and unique shade, hope you like it!

This week I am sharing piCture pOlish Denim. A beautiful denim blue shade with blue shimmer and silver flakies. The blue shimmer shifts to pink, though I didn’t notice the effect on my nails. I used two layers for the swatch above. As with almost all piCture pOlish shades, it glided on and was easy to use.

Denim is such a beautiful shade, but kind of hard to capture. I’d almost call it blurple as it’s one of those inbetween shades you don’t quite know where to place. In some light settings it looks blue, but other times it definitely leans towards purple. In any case an interesting shade, with a very beautiful sparkly finish.

If you look closely at the bottom edge of the picture above, you can see the blue shimmer shift to pink! Amazing right? I had such a hard time capturing the shimmer of this polish. It’s very apparent in person, but somehow my camera wouldn’t pick it up. I tend to say this with all piCture pOlish shades but you really do need to see them on your own nails to get the full effect. I love how they always release shades with amazing depth to them, it’s definitely the signature style of piCture pOlish.

You can find piCture pOlish Denim for AU$9.50 on the piCture pOlish website. Make sure to check out their network page to find an online store near you. If you are in Belgium or the Netherlands, you can take a look at PrettyPolish.nl!

Minnie & You Nail Art

6th February, 2013

Today’s manicure is dedicated to someone special! I’m sure you’ll be able to guess who from taking a quick glance at my nails. :D Who else can it be other than Minnie Mouse herself?!

I was asked to create this adorable “Minnie-cure” for the occasion of the Minnie & You campaign. Disney are putting a special spotlight on Minnie Mouse with the Minnie & You campaign, celebrating her style and fashion sense.

I used two beautiful OPI shades from the Minnie Mouse collection for this “Minnie-cure”. I painted my nails with OPI The Color Of Minnie which is a beautiful red with pink shimmer and OPI Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It which is the famous and beautiful heart glitter!

On my middle finger I painted the M of the distinctive Minnie & You logo using nail brushes and a dotting tool for the polka dots. On my ring finger I individually placed some of the heart glitters of OPI Nothin’ Mousie ‘Bout It. This glitter is so adorable! It has beautiful pink and gold flakies, I can’t wait to see what it looks like over black. On my pointer finger and pinkie I used a dotting tool to add a fun polka dot print over OPI The Color Of Minnie.

And finally, I had to add a bow to my thumb! When you think of Minnie, you think of polka dots and of her beautiful bow of course. I find bows so tricky to paint, but I am pretty happy with how this one turned out! I hope I’ve made Minnie proud. :D

I hope you enjoyed my “Minnie-cure”. I had so much fun creating it! Please let me know what you think in comments below.

Keautystore Review – Lioele Carry Me Hand Cream

4th February, 2013

Keautystore is quickly becoming one of my favourite stores for Asian cosmetics! They carry all the great brands such as Etude House, Missha, Skinfood, Innisfree and Lioele. The last one will be featured in this review, more specifically the Lioele Carry Me Hand Cream in Coconut.

Hand cream is probably one of my most used skincare and beauty products. When I don’t need to leave my house, I won’t bother to apply any make-up, but I will always use hand cream! Especially now with the cold weather, my hands and nails are suffering from dryness. You won’t catch me going anywhere without some hand cream!

This Lioele Carry Me Hand Cream comes in a really beautiful packaging. The tube reminded me of paint tubes which I thought was really cute. It has a beautiful and elegant design in silver and pink. The size is very convenient, it holds about 40ml of product, the perfect size to carry around! :D

This hand cream is available in two scents, Coconut and Blueberry. I chose Coconut as it’s my favourite scent for basically anything. My favourite shower gel is coconut scented too! For some reason I only like the scent though, not the actual fruit itself, go figure! :D

The Lioele Carry Me Hand Cream is really great, the scent is absolutely wonderful (I wish I could let you smell it!) and it feels really nice on your hands. It’s not sticky at all, it sinks into your skin in seconds! It’s also very moisturising, the effect will last you a long time and the coconut scent will subtly linger on your hands.

You can find the Lioele Carry Me Hand Cream for $7 at Keautystore.  They carry many other amazing products, including a ton of nail polishes, so make sure to take a look! You can even use a coupon code to save some money, use “veryemily” when checking out for a 5% discount!

piCture pOlish Gene Doll swatches (six layering combinations)

2nd February, 2013

As you may have noticed if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, I’ll be continuing with a weekly piCture pOlish swatch-athon! I asked you which one you’d like to see first, and piCture pOlish Gene Doll got most votes, so here it is! Gene Doll is a beautiful purple glitter best suited for layering. Rather than showing you one layering option I’m sharing SIX layering combinations! Yay! :D

I used one coat of piCture pOlish Gene Doll and no top coat for each of these layering combinations. I paired Gene Doll with a white, black, gold, purple, blue and green. My favourite layering combos are the white and pale blue, they really make the glitter pop! Let’s take a look.

piCture pOlish Gene Doll layered over China Glaze Snow.

piCture pOlish Gene Doll layered over OPI Onyx.

piCture pOlish Gene Doll layered over Barry M Foil Effects in Gold.

piCture pOlish Gene Doll layered over Barry M Bright Purple.

piCture pOlish Gene Doll layered over piCture pOlish Sky.

piCture pOlish Gene Doll layered over China Glaze Def Defying.

As you can see, the layering possibilities are endless! You can go quite subtle if you layer it over black or purple, or you can opt for a bright contrasting combination with white, blue or green. The tagline of this one is “tapping toes like Mr Kelly”, referring to Gene Kelly, the famous actor and dancer.

Which layering combination would you go for? Let me know in the comments!

You can find Gene Doll for AU$9.50 on the piCture pOlish website. Make sure to check out their network page to find an online store near you. If you are in Belgium or the Netherlands, you can take a look at PrettyPolish.nl!

Geometric Nail Art

31st January, 2013

I’m back with some nail art today! I wasn’t even planning on sharing this one on my blog, but as I got so many compliments on them I thought I’d share them with you. :D

For work I like to keep my nails simple as my nail polish chips really easily from washing my hands a lot and rummaging through boxes. Doesn’t mean they have to be boring though! I definitely like to have a fun design, but nothing too intricate that will make me sad when it chips.

When I was painting my nails for work, I picked an unused polish from my stash. An OPI mini, Did It On ‘Em from the Nicki Minaj collection and decided to add a fun accent nail. I remembered this really beautiful geometric design I saw on the blog Lucy’s Stash and decided to recreate it. I used China Glaze Snow as a base and used my It’s So Easy Stripe Rite in Black to create the pattern. Lucy’s Stash has a great and easy to follow tutorial on this design so make sure to check out her post!

This design is so effective. It almost looks like a nail wrap, but actually it’s been carefully painted by hand! It looks tricky but it’s actually fairly simple to do. Those are my favourite types of designs! Hope you like it too! :)

Born Pretty Store Shea Butter Hand Cream

28th January, 2013

I have a review for you today on one of the more recent products at Born Pretty Store! I love Born Pretty Store for their nail decorations and polishes but they offer so many more amazing products. Today I’m sharing a product of their skin care range. Let’s take a look!

This is the Shea Butter Hand Cream. What instantly drew me to this product was the packaging. It comes in a beautiful and elegant box, which you slide open to reveal the hand cream. Hand cream is something I try to use as much as possible. Now with the colder weather especially, it’s very important to keep your hands moisturized!

The packaging feels and looks very luxurious. The hand cream comes in a tube which has the same ballerina pattern on it as the box. Isn’t it gorgeous? It looks so beautiful standing on your desk or table. And it’s the perfect size to keep in your bag too!

What I love most about this Shea Butter Hand Cream is that it feels ah-mazing on the skin. I hate having dry hands but what I dislike even more is a sticky hand cream. This product sinks into your skin immediately and stops your skin from feeling dry. On the site the description says “forms a layer of protective film” which is very accurate. It’s tricky to describe, but it instantly makes my hands feel better without being sticky.

I wasn’t a huge fan of the scent of this sadly, it reminded me of a powdery play-doh or paint-like smell. It’s subtle enough so it doesn’t bother me too much. It definitely doesn’t stop me from using it as it feels SO nice on my hands! I will definitely have to pick up the two other scents though! This hand cream is also available in polygonatum scent and green tea scent.

This Shea Butter Hand Cream is available on the Born Pretty Store website for $7.32. I really love this hand cream, it feels simply amazing. Definitely worth the price tag in my opinion! Don’t forget to save some money on your order with my coupon code, EMILYW21 gives you 10% off!

KKCenterHK review – Love Alpha Eyeshadow Pigments

26th January, 2013

So I’m back today with another blogpost, this time I’m reviewing products from online store KKCenterHK. They have an amazing range of nail decals but I’m personally a HUGE fan of their make-up! I was incredibly impressed with their single eyeshadows from the brand Cuicu and today I’m reviewing loose eyeshadow pigments from the brand Love Alpha.

Love Alpha is a brand that’s completely new to me, but I instantly fell in love with the packaging when I saw it on the site. There’s 18 different shades in total, I picked three shades that caught my attention.

From left to right: Light baby blue No. 09, Dark Navy Blue No. 08, Gold No. 13.

Check out this pigmentation! WOW! I swatched these on my hand, without eyeshadow base. I was completely blown away when I first swatched these. They are incredibly opaque and easy to use. A little product goes a long way!

Here’s an eyeshadow look I created using just the three Love Alpha pigments. I used the gold on the inner corner, the light blue on the lid and the navy blue in the crease. Capturing eyeshadow looks is so tricky! :D It’s really hard to translate to pictures, I thought this looked much nicer in person but I hope the picture still shows how beautiful these pigments are.

You can find Love Alpha eyeshadow pigments on the KKCenterHK website, not only are they amazing quality but they’re only $3.94 a piece. They hold 8 grams of product so you are getting a great deal! If you order with KKCenterHK, make sure to save some money by using my 5% discount code: “VERYEMILY”.

Do you like using loose eyeshadow pigments? Or do you prefer regular eyeshadows? Let me know in the comments!

Weleda Lavender Relaxing Body Oil Review

22nd January, 2013

When stress levels are high, it’s important to take care of ourselves and find ways to relax. There’s nothing like a nice massage after a long stressful day at work to calm you down! A moment of peace and quiet to clear your head and do nothing but relax. Yes please! :D

This Weleda Lavender Relaxing Body Oil is the perfect companion for a relaxing massage. It has calming and soothing properties thanks to the organic lavender oils. It consists of all natural ingredients so it’s great for your skin too!

Weleda has always been a much-loved brand in my family. I’ve been using the Wild Rose body oil for years! It’s not only a great massage oil but helps to protect and nourish your skin. During my teens, I (like many girls) struggled with stretch marks and the Weleda oils have made a huge difference for me.

Weleda uses all natural ingredients in their products and don’t test on animals, so this brand is a great choice! Not only do they offer body oils, they also have skin, face and hair care products. You will even find products suited for your newborn! Definitely something for everyone.

It was a fun coincidence that I received the Lavender oil. I grew up with the scent of lavender as my mom uses it all the time, she absolutely swears by it! Obviously the first thing I did when this product arrived was test it! I gave my mom a relaxing foot massage using the Lavender Relaxing Body oil. The product felt very nice and moisturizing, it sinks into the skin and the scent is really lovely.

Weleda has offices in more than 50 countries and is available across the world. Make sure to check out the Weleda website to find out where it’s sold near you! What do you think of Weleda products? Have you used them before? Let me know in the comments!
