Subtle Spray Paint Nails

Today’s nail art was inspired by the spray paint technique I saw at the blog Manicurator. She used a spray bottle to create a splatter effect. I really loved this idea so decided to give it a go!

I ended up doing it a little differently though. I used acrylic paints in my spray bottle instead of nail polish. I started by adding water in the bottle, then slowly adding a few drops of white acrylic paint until the water looked opaque enough, while still keeping the liquid consistency. My spray bottle tended to squirt once I tried using anything thicker than a liquid consistency.
The result looks very nice I think! Almost like raindrops that have dried on a window. I added a few rhinestones on an accent nail to add some elegance to the look. All rhinestones are from Born Pretty Store.

These are the products I used for this look:
- Catrice – Karl Says Très Chic as a base
- Water and white acrylic paint for the droplets/splatter effect
- 3mm iridescent rhinestones
- silver steel balls
- 2mm pearl rhinestones
- Essence Studio Nails Top Sealer
I really love how this turned out even though the technique was a little on the messier side for me. I had to experiment with the acrylic paint until I reached the effect I was going for. Though it was definitely worth it in the end!

What kind of squirt or spray bottle did you use?

So cute! I love the effect of the spray paint, did you just use a normal spray for this? And isn't it hard to clean afterwards?

Oh wow! Wat super mooi! Ik heb vorig weekend een schilderij met waterverf gemaakt en toen het nog nat was, wat zout erover heen gedaan. Dan krijg je ook van die soort van 'spetters' op een hele leuke manier, hihi!

Yes, I linked what my spray bottle looked like in one of my replies a few comments higher up. I didn’t want to use nail polish like in the post I found because I feared it would be hard to clean out. so instead I went with water and paint which is fairly easy to clean since acrylic paint is water based! And thank you!!

I love it when I see pictures from nail art and then start wondering how the artist did it. It doesn't happen often these days, but your design definitely made me wonder! So I came by to check it out and I think it is gorgeous! The rhinestones fit perfectly as well. Nice one Emily!

Those rhinestones just add a total OH MY GOSH to the look! Now that you mentioned car windows, it reminds me of droplets of water that dry up on a car. Just so pretty!
