Born Pretty Store Review: Sweet Color Swatches

Today I have another swatch review for you. Do forgive me if you are tired of seeing swatches haha, I just love doing them! They are tricky, time consuming but so much fun.
Anyway, these beauties are from the latest Born Pretty Store range, called Sweet Color. They come in the most gorgeous bottles with a gold cap! Pretty bottles are a weakness of mine and I think these are some of the prettiest I own.

When I saw these on their site for the first time I thought they would be all cremes but they sadly aren’t. They are a mix of jellies, which are mostly sheer, and super opaque cremes. They also don’t have names, just numbers. The collection also has a top coat, which I don’t have swatches of but do recommend as it dries very quickly!
Let’s take a look at the swatches to find out more!

Sweet Color 223 – First up, a red jelly. This is pretty much the perfect bright red shade, even though I don’t often wear red this one is definitely really nice. Also I love how the red looks with the gold cap, simply stunning! This was three coats.

Sweet Color 235 – This is a very pretty sunny orange. This is a creme but was on the sheer side, yellow/oranges tend to be trickier so it wasn’t a huge surprise. I needed three coats for this one.

Sweet Color 033 – Yellow jelly. Yeah, there’s no mistaking that visible nail line is there? This was pretty sheer. It’s a gorgeous colour but it definitely asks for a white base coat to layer it over. I know not everyone likes to wear yellow, I personally love yellow, but this one didn’t impress me too much. This is three coats.

Sweet Color 232 – This one looks more army green in the bottle but is a bit brighter on the nails. Now, if you see an army green polish, you expect it to be pretty opaque right? This was the sheerest out of all the shades believe it or not! I used four coats and still there’s a hint of VNL. Such a shame! However, this is perfect for some types of nail art (gradients for example!).

Sweet Color 337 – Obviously I was most excited about this shade, I need to feed my mint green obsession! This was a sheer creme, I needed 4 coats. I like my mint greens more opaque but I’ll forgive this one since the colour is so stunning. It’s similar to American Apparel Office (which is slightly brighter and lighter than this one) but not quite the same.

Sweet Color 009 – This pretty light blue needed four coats as well.

Sweet Color 034 – Now we’ve arrived at the super opaque cremes! This turquoise shade glided on like butter and needed just two coats. It covers amazingly well! Love it! (You can win this shade in my giveaway!)

Sweet Color 005 – Not sure how to describe this shade, a purple periwinkle? I don’t really care, let’s just call it gorgeous! I loved this shade (and the previous one) so much I decided to put it into one of the prize packs in my giveaway! I needed three coats for this but you could get away with two.

Sweet Color 338 – Many collections have a sheer pink, this is no exception. A jelly pink, perfect as a base, for French manicure but also for jelly glitter sandwiches! I used three coats.

Sweet Color 002 – I don’t own many browns so I was pretty excited about this shade. I needed just two coats for this brown creme. Not sure how I feel about wearing this on its own but as a base for nail art, awesome!

Sweet Color 001 – I would call this shade pigeon grey haha! It had amazing coverage as I needed just two coats. I really like grey polishes! This one is great!

Sweet Color 002 – And last but not least, this stunning gunmetal shade! It’s hard to say but this is definitely one of my favourites. I don’t have anything like this, I think it’s a super stunning colour! It also had great coverage, I used two coats.
Overall a mixed collection, but there’s definitely something for everyone! If you are interested in sheer shades (they are definitely getting more popular, like the Sheer collection by American Apparel!) there’s definitely some pretty ones, but also cremes with great coverage. You can find the Sweet Color nail polishes on Born Pretty Store’s website for $6.14 a piece. If you order with them don’t forget to save some money by using my 10% off code, EMILYW21.

I hate rainbow collections, always makes me think I need MORE polishes even though I'm pretty sure I own every colour under the sun !

Well, I'm going for the acrylic stuff (I think it's similar or even exactly to what you ordered then), a pearl nail art wheel and a glow in the dark polish for my boyfriend's sister.

Ooh…I know that you're not the biggest fan of Jellies…but I might need to pick up a couple of the Jelly shades! I'm totally digging the red and the sheer yellow one, aside from the green/mint/aqua shades! And kinda like Sarah said above…I'm pretty sure I've got every color under the sun but I want MOAR! BTW…your swatches are my favorite. I normally don't like looking at them because I see them every day, but you do new, exciting, rare stuff haha! <3 Kaitie

Too bad that so many are so sheer
The 'pigeon grey' looks really pretty, and so do the bottles.

Yes it\’s a bit of a shame, but those that are super opaque are really great, almost one coaters!

The bottles are to die for right? I haven\’t been able to put them in a drawer, they\’re still sitting on my desk so I can stare at them <3
