Born Pretty Store Review – ChNail Glow In The Dark

3rd August, 2012 - Posted by Emily - 19 Comments

I have a very cool review for you today! A swatch of one of the Born Pretty Store glow in the dark polishes! I hugely love glow in the dark stuff, and these polishes by ChNail are really fun. Born Pretty Store sells a total of 12 different shades ranging from blue to yellow to red and more. I have one of them to show you, a minty green (what else!) which you can find on the site here.

ChNail #02 – Here is 3 coats of the glow in the dark polish over 1 coat of white BK matte nail polish (my fav white polish!).  Just one coat of this polish will give you a nice glow in the dark effect, layered over a design or solid shade. Since I was after the mint green colour I layered this over white to achieve the effect you see pictured above. The formula and consistency of this polish is a bit different, it’s more like a gel, I wouldn’t call it gloopy or thick since it’s quite easy to even out on your nails, but it is something entirely different to regular nail polish formulas. I didn’t experience any troubles with it in any case! The polish also has a dull finish when it dries, so I added a layer of topcoat to add some shine.

And this is the effect in the dark! You charge these under a lamp, and then the glow in the dark effect will gradually start to fade.

The thing I love most about this is how it looks layered over white. The mint green almost turns into this pastel neon shade. It’s utterly gorgeous! Sometimes sheer doesn’t always mean bad news and that’s definitely the case with this polish in my opinion. You can find this glow in the dark polish, ChNail #02, at Born Pretty Store for $4.99. Use my code EMILYW21 to receive a 10% discount when you order!

I own this and I love it so much. It’s a little stinky to me but the awesome-ness of it makes up for it.

I love it. I actually did a review myself on the same polish not so long ago. I wanted to ask you something. Have you tried stamping with the white matte BK polish? I'd really want to know whether it's good for stamping :)

I need one of these! I have a glow in the dark polish that I got from a $2 shop, but the formula is terrible, this one sounds great.

Oh! Thank you for reviewing this! This is perfect! I was actually looking at this on BornPretty for myself earlier this week, and I definitely want it now! Plus, I LOVE how it's mint green AND glow-in-the-dark! Absolutely perfect!

I've become slightly immune to stinky polishes over the years so I think it bugs me less than it does other people :D glad to hear you love it too regardless of the stinky smell! :D

I just went and checked out your review! Woah your in-the-dark swatch looks amazing! You were able to capture it so well! :) and I sadly do not stamp so I can't help you there, I would imagine it could work since it's so opaque and on the thicker side, but it does dry quite quickly.

Thanks Kaitie! Yep it's pretty cool. Over white it's almost neon mint which is just amazing! Definitely another awesome BPS polish! :)

Not a yellow fan in general, but 235 is calling to me!

Do you absolutely need to have a lamp for the glow in the dark effect to come out?

Hey Anna, yes you will need to charge the design. Charging it in the sun works as well but it takes longer and the effect is less strong :)
