My Days In Instagram Pictures (updated!)
12th June, 2012 - Posted by Emily - 20 Comments
I’ve been seeing a few bloggers do more personal posts with Instagram pictures. I’ve loved reading them so much, especially this one from Lin. I loved hers so much I felt inspired to make an Instagram post as well!
I don’t own an iPhone myself (the boyfriend does) so I mostly take my pictures with my iPad, though I steal his iPhone every chance I get.
These pictures are a mix of iPhone and iPad pictures though sadly the iPad’s quality and resolution isn’t as good.
On the left are gradient nails I did for my mum’s birthday party. I used Illamasqua Jo’Mina and Diamond Cosmetics Plum Pie In The Sky. During her birthday, my cousin, our boyfriends and I had some fun in the pool. A bit too much fun unfortunately, cause when I came out of the pool my knees were flaming red. I scraped/burnt them on the bottom of our pool, I had to keep my knees in bandages for two days. Sad Emily! A few weeks later, they’re still not fully healed but thankfully not itchy and painful anymore. I still have no idea how or when it exactly happened.
I love going on evening walks in the forest with my boyfriend. In this picture, Dries is standing in The Netherlands and I’m standing in Belgium! The big white pole marks the country border. I really love living on the border of two countries. You really do get the best of both worlds. For example, I love going to the supermarket in the Netherlands. You get more exotic food because of their colonies, perfect for my love of spicy food.
I used Pixlromatic as well as Instagram for these two pictures.
On the left I’ve got China Glaze Love’s A Beach on my toes! I’m loving the summery weather we’ve been having (even though it’s gone back to cold rainy weather now). I also sneaked our wild pansies in the picture. They pretty much came out of nowhere! I love wild pansies. They remind me of running around in the garden on hot summer evenings.
On the right is a picture of the blackboard wall in my room. I’d been having some rough days some time ago and my friend Alanna gave me this awesome advice: “you are the queen of your castle!”. I loved it so much I had to write it down, it gives me strength every day. I’m a big worrier but sometimes you just have to remind yourself that you are in control of your life and not someone else.
We recently went to IKEA to get me a new Helmer cabinet. We drove up there quite early and gave their €1 breakfast a try. It really exceeded our expectations! It’s pretty amazing how they can offer these breakfast meals for such a low price, you can’t even get a coffee for €1 nowadays! We each got a croissant, crispy (still warm!) sandwich, cheese, jam, butter and coffee. Was really delicious!
At IKEA I bought the front three pillows on the left picture. I had been looking for some extra pillows for my bed for months but the price always held me back. Pillows are expensive business! These were €5 a piece which I thought was pretty decent and I loved the prints so I had to buy them! I have a totally cosy American style bed now with lots and lots of pillows! Awesome!
On the right my display hand with the Jubilee nails I did. So proud of them! The hand is from Born Pretty Store. I also sneaked my swatchicle box in the picture. I love that thing so much!
Finally I have my third Helmer! I keep my nail polish and nail art supplies in these awesome cabinets. None of the drawers are empty so I guess I’ll have to stop buying nail supplies… As if that is ever going to happen!
I haven’t written anything on my labels yet but I fear I will have to. I used to know where I held everything but with so many drawers I have to open about four before I’ve found what I need. Whoops!

My boyfriend, his brother and I placed an order with USfoodz.be recently. You needed a minimum of €30 to order with free shipping so we went a little wild! It’s pretty mind blowing, you read and hear about American food in films and TV your entire life and then you finally get a chance to try all that stuff! My favourites so far have been the Hot Tamales, Wonka Rainbow Nerds, Twizzlers, 3 Musketeers and Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. Our order arrived within two working days and the service was really great. Thanks USfoodz!
I’ve been staying at my boyfriends house for the week. We live reasonably far apart so we always use public transport to visit each other. Since we had to move some stuff from his house to mine we decided to make a trip and drive to my house. It took us 1,5 hours, lots of traffic jams and rain storms later we arrived at my house! It felt so weird, visiting your own house. A sense of what’s to come when I move out perhaps.
On the right a picture of Minecraft for Xbox 360. Dries, his brother Hannes and I decided to each build our own house on three nearby islands. My house is on the top right
we’ve spent way too many hours playing that game. It’s so addictive! I really love the graphics and style of the game, it’s so simple yet so much fun.

We also made a trip to Liège this week. They have a shopping mall (Mediacité) with a Primark store. It’s the only one in our country sadly since I love Primark so much! It’s a budget chain of stores with awesome clothes and accessories. I mostly love their bags, I didn’t buy a lot of other stuff though we did find some nice clothes for the boyfriend.
I almost went and bought six bags but I was good and stuck to just four. Haha! A leopard backpack, a small quilted bag, the perfect black bag and a nautical camera style bag. I think the most expensive one was €13. Score!
That concludes my first Instagram picture post. I hope you enjoyed it! If you’d like to see more of these let me know in the comments.

how did you get the nails to fit in the hand you bought from bornprettystore?

Samantha, they were filed to fit my own nails so I used a lot of BluTack (though mine is white haha) to stick them on. They're not a perfect fit but it looks alright

Wow, that's so cool you can try US foods. That stuff is so unhealthy though! But, just for fun it would be neat to try food from other places
Your favorites are some of my favorite candies, too! Yum yum.

Eileen, Haha I'm not surprised! You take things like that for granted when you see they are so readily available, I wouldn't be able to miss my local stuff too but then you never really think about that haha! Nerds are really nice haha!
I really love the name too.
Maria, Thanks! So glad you liked my post. Yes living on the border of two countries is pretty awesome. I always tell people my garden is in the Netherlands which isn't far off actually. If you check my street on google maps we are pretty much on top of the line haha. And yes the Ranch Corn Nuts are really nice!
Melanie S, Yeah the candy is pretty unhealthy haha, but I couldn't resist the opportunity to try these things. I'm leaving the "eating" up to the boys though, I just wanted to do some "tasting"
I never usually have candy.
Esmay, Ja dat ontbijt was echt goed zeker voor de prijs haha!
Jolien, DOEN! Echt de moeite om is te proberen allemaal!
Ze hebben ook ontbijtgranen en cakemix en zo!

Great post, I'm also a fan of 'personal posts'. The candy part was my favorite because I'm the opposite, i live in Canada and im alway dying for Euro candy, especially the Haribo Gummies!! My oma is in Germany right now and i've given her my shopping list. Your pictures are beautiful! <3

Hey Emily!
I found your blog by Googling mint green purse and I am so glad I did. I love your blog, you do A LOT of GREAT nail art and your photos were amazing. You are inspiring. I wish I could follow through Google, maybe I will find another way.

Also, it's funny that you bought all those things, I didn't think people from other countries would be very interested in what we got for some reason, probably cause everyone here seems so obsessed with everything from that side of the world!

Jennifer, thanks! Oh haha! I'm not surprised, we always want what we can't have right?
I didn't know you don't get Haribo in US/Canada! Their candy is really good. What else is your grandmother getting you?
Sherry, awh yay thanks so much! So glad to hear you enjoy my blog. Means a lot to me!
I don't use GFC since my blog is hosted on WordPress, I use Facebook and Bloglovin' as follower widgets. I believe you can add my blog to your Google Reader though!
and well it's the opposite here, we see a lot of US TV shows and movies and we see all that food that you can't get here so after years of reading and hearing about that stuff, it was pretty awesome to finally try it all
I doubt we will ever finish it though.

Minecraft really is addicting, isn't it? Haven't played in a while though. Started with the beta-version (I play on PC). And skittles are totally awesome.

It is SO addictive haha! I started on beta as well, I don't have an Xbox so I play on computer at home. The multiplayer version is definitely even more awesome though, working together on house projects or exploring crazy -OH MY GOD I CAN SEE DIAMOND- caves, best fun!
