Diamond Jubilee Nails

If you know me a little, then you know I have a weakness for everything British. I’m a huge Anglophile, always have been for as long as I can remember. I love going to the UK, it feels like going home to me. This weekend it’s the Queens Diamond Jubilee. It’s been 60 years since Elizabeth II was crowned Queen! A reason to celebrate because it’s a very unique occasion to have a monarch with such a long reign.
I simply had to create nails celebrating the Queen! I admire her a lot, she’s a strong and incredibly bright woman. An inspiration to many! I created these on nail tips since I wanted to keep my design, I now have all the nails attached to a display hand in my room so I can look at them every day!
Really proud of how they turned out.

Here’s what I used for each nail:
- Pink Finger “Union Flag”: BK White, China Glaze Hey Sailor, China Glaze First Mate, Glitter Stripers in Red and Blue, Essence Sealing Top Coat
- Ring Finger “Cameo Nail”: BK White, It’s So Easy Stripe Rite in White and Black, 2mm silver rhinestones, Essence Sealing Top Coat
- Middle Finger “Diamond Nail”: Illamasqua Swinger, BK White, It’s So Easy Stripe Rite in Silver Glitter and Black, Essence Sealing Top Coat
- Index Finger “Crown Nail”: China Glaze Phat Santa, 2mm gold rhinestones, 2mm and 3mm red rhinestones, red elliptic rhinestones, silver steel balls
- Thumb “Union Flag 3D Nail”: China Glaze First Mate, 2mm and 3mm red rhinestones, silver steel balls
My favourites are the index finger and thumb. The index finger was inspired by the St Edwards Crown, the one she wore during her coronation. The thumb definitely pops out the most in person, it’s so in-your-face! I love it!

Here’s a close-up of the thumb. I think this one took me the longest since I had to apply all the gems one by one. This is probably the longest I’ve worked on a set of nails! Definitely worth the effort though.
I hope you liked my Jubilee nails and for those celebrating, have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks Phillipa! I only made one set for one hand since I made these purely for this post.
they were done on fake nails so I could keep them and display them in my room haha.
When I do designs on my own nails I always do both hands.

Hey Emily, I have just discovered your blog and i'm absolutely amazed by your nail design aesthetic! I'm so learning from you! Just wanted to share my take on Diamond Jubilee Nails
Check out http://phoenixbeautylounge.com/mani-of-the-week-d…. Yes it's my real nails and i could only do my left hand, my right is just alternating red and blue with 3 diamonds (not shown obviously
). And yes it took forever considering mistakes, changes of mind on the fly and all
I totally can relate! Thanks so much for being such and inspiration! Take care, Liliana

OMG! Thanks so much for your reply! I had a "fan girl" moment for a second
) So happy! This mani was so inspired by you, but i made myself a promise not to look when i create, just research and find myself some good reference points. So no copying here
Btw, do you happen to have any tut on using acrylic molds? Seeing what you do with them, your totally fresh design approach, now i really want to give them a try and see what happens
Take care, Liliana

Awh omg thanks Liliana haha! I'm blushing! Well I think your crown turned out so amazing! I like it even better than mine haha. Great job!
I don't have a tutorial on acrylic and molds but I am working on it! I'm struggling with making the right pictures so it's clear what I am trying to show but I should have that post up soon! It'll feature mostly what type of supplies you need and explain the technique briefly, if there's interest in a real step-by-step tutorial I'll gladly create that too!
We'll see how it goes! In any case I'd be more than happy to answer any questions you might have if my post isn't elaborate enough x
