NCLA Secession Strikes Nail Wraps

I’m sure you all remember the ikat print nails I did some time ago. They were based on a nail wrap design by the brand NCLA. In this post I’m showing you THE original nail wraps that started all of it! So exciting! 
I was lucky enough to win the Secession Strikes nail wraps in a twitter contest NCLA was holding. They arrived about a week later if I remember correctly. The nail wraps come with two sheets of 22 stickers per sheet and a nail file. Not just any nail file, just the best nail file I have ever tried. I’m serious. I have really strong feelings about this file, I know it sounds ridiculous and I never thought I would get excited about nail files but this thing is just perfection. I kid you not! Okay, now let’s move on.
I was pretty excited to see so many wraps, you’re definitely going to find a perfect fit for your nails. The largest wrap is on the small side I would say though, I don’t have the biggest thumbnails and I needed the largest size. In my case I won’t get multiple uses out of these wraps since I messed a few up and needed the same size for two of my nails on each hand.
I had quite a bit of trouble with application, I’m not going to lie. I guess my nails are quite curved, it caused some of the wraps to wrinkle. Especially on my pointer finger and thumb, which are most curved I guess. I had no trouble on my middle finger for example which is flatter.
Applying these is essentially quite easy. You start by pushing back your cuticles, then apply a base coat. This is a very important step, if you don’t, you’ll peel off the top layer of your nails during removal. I had to learn that the hard way. If you apply a base coat it should be fine! Then you need to find the right size wrap for your nail, it’s kinda tricky at first finding the right size. Apply the wrap to your nail and file off the excess. Once you’re finished applying all the wraps to your nails, add a shiny topcoat!
I have to say, I thought they looked really great. I love this design a lot! Though because of the curvature of my nails most of them didn’t last long, I had to peel off about half of the wraps the same day. Maybe if I try them a second time I’ll have more luck with application. The nails that were applied correctly and didn’t have any wrinkles stayed on for over a week. I painted two layers of A England Avalon on the wrapless nails, perfect match! They would have probably lasted even longer if I didn’t take them off.
All in all I like these but personally I think I’ll stick with hand painted designs, but that’s just me! 
If you’re into nail wraps then I would definitely give these a go though, I think NCLA have the best designs when it comes to nail wraps. They’re very unique and different! They even have a design called “Emily“, I highly approve! And if that’s not enough, they also have their own line of nail polishes. What do you think of nail wraps? Have you ever used them?
