Antwerp Haul

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Yesterday I went to Antwerp with my boyfriend and his brother. It was really hot outside and it was very busy but we had a lot of fun. I shopped a few things at H&M, they have a great discount going on now, if you buy two items with coloured tags both the items are 50% off. The brothers both bought a great suit which would have been €90 but they were able to buy it for €45 instead!

I let myself go a bit, splashed out and got 5 nail polishes cause I loved the colours that much. :D They’re more vibrant in real life and the purple is more reddish instead of blue.

1

From left to right, Check Me Out a gorgeous hot pink, Being on the A-List a bright yellow, Pink Mist a nude colour but it’s not very opaque so more suitable for French nails, Bella’s choice which is a great turquoise blue, and Fashionista which is the most gorgeous shimmery purple.

I love the colours but I’m not a big fan of the formula, it takes a long time to dry, besides Pink Mist they’re all pretty opaque though I am wearing white underneath my swatches, they look pretty much the same without and give good coverage after two layers. They do chip really easily unfortunately.

They’re €3,95 each at H&M.

I also bought some sunglasses, I already had the pink one, I bought it a while ago. I saw the mint green one when I bought the pink and I really regretted not buying it at the time. I saw it again yesterday at the separate accessories H&M store on the Meir and I grabbed it instantly. They’re just €4,95!

Shopping!

Went to Sint-Niklaas with my mum today, we went to the Irish Inn for a sandwich first, then to the Stationstraat to do some shopping!

First we went to Veritas to order nametags for me to sew in my sewing projects, I chose “handmade by Emily Denise” with a black ribbon and white letters. Hopefully I can pick them up next week. We also found these two beautiful balls of yarn, in bright green and dark aubergine for €2,25 a piece.

A few weeks ago I saw that Severien bought a whole bag full of buttons at Veritas for just €5, I was really envious! A  few days later I sent my mum to the Veritas at the shopping mall in Sint-Niklaas and she didn’t see any buttons anywhere besides the expensive ones you can buy a piece. I had more luck today! When we were getting ready to leave my eye caught a box of buttons! But… disappointment I felt when I took a better look, these don’t look pretty at all. Though I decided not to give up and browse through, did I find some nice buttons! Hidden beneath all that trash I found true gems, I’m so happy with these!

We also made a little visit to our local yarn store for a few more colours to do our crochet flowers, from left to right and top to bottom: Grey, White, Turqoise, Camo green, Amber and Coral pink, on top a 2,5 Crocheting needle. Most of these were only €2 a piece as they came out of the sales boxes, it’s always fun to find a few bargains.

Mini Haul

Thursday, March 4th, 2010

Went to the small town of Hulst in the Netherlands today, it’s only a five minute drive away from my house, as you know I live right on the border of Belgium and the Netherlands. Hulst is a small town but it’s got a busy shopping street, it’s open on Sunday so a lot of Belgians go there on Sunday, it’s always very busy then. There’s only a small range of shops there, so I don’t see why it attracts so much people, but it’s a very nice town and quite idyllic really.

I went to Kruidvat and Hema cause I needed a few things, amongst which I wanted a moisturiser or a daycream for young skin, but I didn’t want do spend €50 for a cream so wanted to find a drugstore alternative. I read somewhere that Hema has a few good daycreams, I thought I’d go and take a look. I was amazed at the range of products they had, there’s a huge range of day and night creams, for wrinkles, dry skin, sensitive skin, combination or oily skin. I only wanted to buy one if it had SPF factor, cause protecting yourself from the sun is very important for your skin. I eventually bought a soothing sensitive skin day cream with SPF 6, it smells really fresh and it makes my skin feel really soft.

Matte plastic packaging, it looks okay I think, I like the minty green. At €4,95, it’s really cheap, but I’m loving the texture, smell and overall how it makes my face feel, and it’s got SPF factor, what more can you ask for?

I also bought this GOSH lipstick, my never-ending frustration is the fact that whatever I do, I just don’t look good in red lipstick. Now I figured, I’ll just find a nice nude lipstick, cause I love the way nude lips look and it’s the only colour I can pull off without looking like a clown. This is the much raved about GOSH 134 Darling lipstick, it’s the best drugstore nude lipstick out there, it retails for €7,99 at Kruidvat.

Okay so here comes a lipswatch, I don’t like lipswatches at all, they always look a bit weird. Anyway, I wanted to show you so here’s Gosh Darling, the top image is without any lipstick on, the bottom is with lipstick.

It’s very subtle, a nice light pink tone. It’s a very creamy lipstick but it feels soft on your lips and not sticky at all. Thumbs up!

the next best thing

I went to Leuven on Friday to meet up with An-Sofie and Charlotte to deliver their Zoeva goodies and teach them a few make-up basics. Was really good fun! I did a black smokey eye look on An-Sofie and a blue look on Charlotte with the metallic stones palette. Afterwards we dropped by Kruidvat cause I wanted to show them some things I had talked about earlier but didn’t bring with me from home. I bought a new mascara as I desperately needed a new one and a liquid eyeliner pencil.

My word, I don’t think I’ve ever had such a good mascara! I was a bit reluctant to buy it at first, as mascara is a bit pricey but I didn’t like the one I had and it was on sale (which always pulls me over!)

falsies

It retails for €13,99 and it was now priced at €9,99, to be fair, great bargain! I don’t know how long this promotion will last so go get it now! Maybelline mascara has always been popular, I never tried the collosal edition (the same tube but in bright yellow) but that got good reviews as well. I must say I’m over the moon with this, I have always had the shortest possible lashes ever, I even know boys that’ve got longer lashes than I have *sob*. But this makes my lashes look long and thick and you can actually SEE them now! This is one of the best buys ever.

I also bought a liquid eyeliner pencil. It’s liquid eyeliner made easy!

Manhattan eyeliner original japanese ink.

It retails for €5,35, not the cheapest out there but it’s great quality! I previously had the same liquid eyeliner pen from Essence and from Hema. Neither of those were up to satisfactory quality, from day one they felt a bit dry and weren’t really black and didn’t had the desired coverage I wanted. This does! It’s Black with a capital B and it’s got a very nice and fine tip.

I also needed a new eyeliner pencil, I have one from Manhattan called X-ACT eyeliner, which is also very good but it’s SO short I’ve sharpened it all up. They unfortunately were out of stock, will have to get to another Kruidvat soon to pick one up. They are a dream!

Mini haul!

Friday, January 8th, 2010

I bought two new nailpolishes today. One by 2B (which is dead cheap) and a Nail Hardener by Catrice.

I really wanted/needed a nail hardener cause my nails tend to be quite brittle. When I grow them too long (which isn’t very long at all) they tend do break or rip on the sides. And now I really want to try and grow my nails longer so I can do some nice designs so I decided to get a nail hardener. I held one in my hands by Rimmel but decided I’d try this one instead, though Catrice is a very cheap brand I’ve been quite pleased with my purchases. I’ll try and keep up with using this cure -as the label says- for a 3 week period. I’ll let you guys know if it has made any difference!

Two days after: I LOVE IT! I’ve now used it as a basecoat and it’s made my nails so much stronger and less bendy! and so far no chipping!

2B

This is a Top Chrono nailpolish by 2B in the colour number 03. It’s a very light pink, perfect for french manicure. It’s more transparant then I wanted it to be unfortunately, have still to find a perfect nude colour that gives full coverage. I know MAC and OPI have one in their collection, I will simply have to go and get it cause I can’t find it anywhere else.

This is what it looks like… After about FOUR coats of polish. Yes FOUR. It’s stunning BUT I needed 4 coats to actually make it cover my nails without still seeing the whites of my tips (though you can still slightly see them). I just don’t have the patience to let those 4 coats dry, even though it’s supposed to be quick-dry nailpolish, 4 coats take ages to harden. I’ll probably just use this for a french nail to give it a pink finish.
