Another week has gone by, which means it’s time for my 31 Day Nail Art Challenge round-up. This was a fun week, I really enjoyed the themes! Let’s take a look!
Day 14 – Flowers: First up is Flowers, I wanted to create a very small floral print. It didn’t turn out exactly like I envisioned but I think with florals you can easily get away with a different outcome. While it looks very detailed it’s quite a random technique.
I used Dance Legend Cetraria as my base then freehanded the roses and polka dots with acrylic paint from Born Pretty Store.
Day 15 – Delicate Print: This prompt left quite a bit open to interpretation so I went with the first thing that popped into my mind. Lace! Lace is very delicate so that did seem like the obvious choice to me and I happen to adore lace prints so that was perfect. I went with a nude/black combination that I ended up loving!
My base on all nails is Lacquer Lust Dusty Rose then I stamped over it with a lace image from Born Pretty Store BP02 plate using Mundo De Unas Black. I finished the look by adding two black rhinestones on my ring finger, also from Born Pretty Store.
Day 16 – Geometric: For geometric I went with a design I had in my head for a few months. A reverse stamping print with a gorgeous image from the B Loves Plates Geometry Is Perfect plate. It’s not perfect but I do like how it turned out!
I started with a coat of white on my nails then sponged on a gradient with ILNP So Coral, Cirque Colors Lean and Cirque Colors Miami-Dade. Then I made a stamping decal with an image from the B Loves Plates Geometry Is Perfect plate using Mundo De Unas black and filled in the design with white polish.
Day 17 – Glitter: I’m going to say something quite controversial now, I don’t really love glitter that much! Sorry! I just tend to prefer creme finishes. Glitter doesn’t seem very “me” though I really adore how these turned out.
For my base I started with a gradient using the Glam Polish Life Of Pi duo, exclusive to Mei Mei’s Signatures and sadly discontinued. This duo features a gorgeous gold and silver glitter with multichrome flakies. Then I stamped over it using some beautiful geometric images from the Pet’la Three Times Plate and Mundo De Unas Black.
Day 18 – Half Moons: Next up is the half moon theme. This was a tricky prompt as I wasn’t really inspired by it, I’m not sure I love the mani I ended up with but I decided to use it anyway. It’s meant to represent a black stone marble but I don’t think I completely succeeded.
I started with a coat of Color Club Barely There as my base then added top coat and applied half moon vinyls from the Serum No. 5 French Hits sheet. I then applied Cirque Colors Memento Mori and removed the vinyls to reveal a perfect half moon. Then with thinned out white acrylic paint I drew on the marble effect, finished the look with silver textured studs from Born Pretty Store.
Day 19 – Galaxies: Galaxy/nebula nails are probably one of my favourites. They’re actually quite easy and quick to achieve and always look so awesome. I never tried my hand at a pastel galaxy print before so I thought this was the perfect excuse to give it a go!
I started with Polish My Life Muscat Martini as my base, then sponged on the following colours to create the galaxy effect: Lacquester Pink Cadillacquester, Dance Legend Velvet 651, Lacquester Feela Mah Lila, Cirque Colors Carpe Diem. I of course added a coat of none other than China Glaze Fairy Dust for some sparkle. Then I painted on some stars and dots with ORLY Instant Artist striper in Crisp White.
Day 20 – Watermarble: This is one of the prompts I had been dreading the most. I’m absolutely not a fan of the watermarble technique and haven’t attempted to do one for years. Thankfully the liquid latex products that have hit the market recently have really made this technique more bearable. Feeling intimidated I reached out to my friend Valesha aka Peachy Polish aka the Watermarble Goddess for some tips and tricks and she kindly helped me out, so thank you Valesha!
I started with a coat of Cirque Colors Carpe Diem on all nails. Then I used distilled room temperature water and watermarbled with Color Club Blank Canvas and Elevation Polish NYC. Both are thin formulas so they spread easily.
I hope you enjoyed this third week of 31DC manis! Please let me know what your favourites are!
